Sea Sponge

I started this painting at the beginning of 2020 and left it largely ignored, feeling bored by the original plain white background. I feel large amounts of discomfort when painting in traditional styles (eg: still life, realism). One day, during my peak 2023 warm colour phase, I decided to add a background that made the sponge feel a bit more accurate to how I imagine the world we live in. My world often feels a bit like a surrealist painting.
